About Elite School of Optometry
Elite School of Optometry (ESO) was established in 1985 and for the first time in India it offered a full four years Baccalaureate in Optometry degree. ESO set the standards for optometric education and research in India. ESO currently offers the Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degrees in optometry as Off-campus Collaborative Programmes of BITS, Pilani.
The library is the ONLY ONE of its kinds in Asia with more than 4000 books and subscriptions to top class vision related journals.
ESO’s Vision Science Laboratory is the First of its kind in India.
A computer laboratory with internet access could be availed by the students at all times. Semi professional volley ball and badminton courts are provided which the students make use of adequately
Extramural lectures: On the last Saturday of every month, an eminent personality is invited to ESO to give a lecture on their field of expertise. Topics ranging from Hypnotherapy to Laughter and Pranic healing are discussed.
ESO believes in the holistic development of students and encourages her students to stretch the boundaries of imagination and knowledge.
It enables students to get international exposure by hosting international conferences of acclaim.
ESO celebrated its 20th anniversary in the year 2005 by conducting three day ESO International Vision science and Optometry Conference (EIVOC 2005). This is the first time such mega event of world standards happened in India.
Every year Dr E Vaithilingam Memorial Scientific Session is conducted wherein students from ESO and other universities share their research works in optometry and vision science.
Students are also encouraged to participate in national and international conferences during their third and fourth years of their study.
Students will be encouraged to participate in community based vision/eye care awareness programmes and vision/eye screening during their course period.
